description of my shoe making in a nutshell
All phases of shoe making are fun for me. I search out vintage materials such as leathers, fabrics, shoe clips, buttons, heels, buckles and anything I can make into a shoe. Then there's designing the shoe- there are so many options that once I start making a pair I'm already thinking about the next!
Every pair is completely handmade by me- I do not use any shoe machinery. I hand last all my shoes onto either vintage wood or modern plastic lasts. Plenty of more steps... then hand cut all my soles and flat heels specifically for that pair. It takes several days or weeks to complete one pair.
Once they're finished I name the shoes. Since cooking is another passion of mine the names are inspired by either a particular recipe that I've been working on, or an ingredient that reminds me of the shoe. Finally, I attach each pair with my Sole Of Vermont nickel silver tag.
